Odds and Ends

As I have some time to relax this BC Day weekend I thought it would be a good opportunity to update my blog with a new post. Since I have a few different things to write about, Odds and Ends seemed an appropriate title.

Though this year’s Seattle to Portland ride is now behind me I do [...]

Idle chatter

Today I have been having a relaxing day while attempting to catch up on some email, cycling news and doing some research for a 70km ride I will be participating in tomorrow. I am bit obsessive that way, I like to research a route or ride before I participate. I guess I like to know where [...]

We are now back home after a great weekend on the STP ride. We actually arrived home yesterday afternoon at about 3 PM. The weather was beautiful for the entire trip and as I write this the sun is out and though a little chilly this morning, and it looks to be another beautiful day.

The STP [...]

Half way there!!

Well so far so good, I left the starting line in Seattle just after 6:00 AM and arrived at the Centralia College halfway point just after 1:30 PM. Half way there. It was a great ride but I am tired and hungry, so now that I have arrived at the hotel and had time to have [...]

Fed and watered…now time to sleep.

Well we are now fed and watered for the evening. It was a good pasta feed provided by Whole Foods in their parking lot across from the store. We arrived a bit before dinner was ready so we took the opportunity to browse their store and were amazed at the selection of good wholesome organic food [...]

Arrival

We just arrived in Seattle and checked into our room here at the Silver Cloud Inn. It was an uneventful drive on a gorgeous day. We crossed at the Aldergrove border crossing at 9:27 AM and there was a short line up to just a block north of 0 Ave. We were across the border in [...]

Time to rest

With the Seattle to Portland ride just a few days away, I have decided to take a couple of rest days before we head down to Seattle on Friday. I won’t even be commuting to work or doing any training other than stretches for the next couple of days. My experience from previous long cycling rides [...]

A time for review and reflection.

Well it is the last week before we head off to Seattle for me to participate in the 2 day 200 mile Seattle to Portland bike ride. I spent time time over the weekend getting a few things ready and spending some time reviewing the materials in my riders package, hotel reservations and maps. I also [...]
